Abilities: Minor healing abilities with good grasp of medicine (able to treat serious wounds and heal minor ones, but no surgery). Illusions (usually so as to run away). Some skill at throwing knives, or so he says.

Strengths: Calm under stress, intelligent, difficult to lose his temper

Weaknesses: Occasional disinterest in evidently important matters tend to place him into trouble (i.e. disregarding fact that X area is owned by Y warlord, etc), often illogical priorities.

Habits: Good Samaritan syndrome, inquisitiveness. When nervous, Dieter tends to adjust his spectacles.

Hobbies: Reading, seeing new places, singing.

Likes: His Mak, ‘Regent’, coffee, books, arguing theology or philosophy, music, collecting folk songs.

Dislikes: Technology. Would rather wander across the desert on a Mak than to use an airship. People who think further education is a waste of time, cruelty.

History: Dieter was ‘born’ to a furniture merchant in Arcadia and her mate, a scholar at the University. Dieter would tell you it was a good childhood, as far as he can remember, having only a vague grasp on time. He studied for and received an honors degree in Theology and Philosophy at the University, and from then on, entered the Church. However, due to his species he was unable to advance any further in the ranks than a priest, and as such, disillusioned, Dieter took to wandering as a missionary.

Since then, he has developed an interest in local customs, myths and oral history, and has been slowly accumulating notes on such over the years. He plans eventually to write a book-length thesis on the matter.

As to his personal survival need, Dieter has found that usually, in exchange for a few odd jobs of healing or teaching in the edgetowns, or simply as a matter of mutual pleasure, he can often find someone or other to help with an Erastian’s hunger.

Appearance: Dieter is most often seen in the robes of a wandering priest – simple whites, reds and blacks, with the crossed circle of the White Faith. He tends to look cheerful and kindly, his travelworn robes meticulously repaired and cleaned whenever possible. He has short reddish brown, auburn hair and bright green eyes under his fringe.

Dieter wears a pair of oddly large, battered spectacles, but it is unknown to what extent would he be blind without them.

Additional notes: At the moment, Dieter is seeking a set of books by a certain author on the nature of religious faith, and is meticulously visiting the large libraries of every city.
